Manchester United prepare to rival Liverpool for the services of Barcelona midfielder Gavi, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly ready to battle Liverpool for the services of Barcelona midfielder Gavi.

The 17-year-old has made the breakthrough into the Barcelona first team this season, while he became Spain's youngest-ever player when he turned out against Italy in the UEFA Nations League on Wednesday.

Liverpool are said to be huge admirers of the midfielder, with the Reds allegedly planning to move for the teenager during next summer's transfer window.

However, according to El Nacional, Man United are also interested in bringing the Spaniard to the Premier League in 2022.

The report claims that the Red Devils would be prepared to activate the €50m (£42.4m) release clause in his contract, but Paris Saint-Germain could battle the two English giants for a deal next summer.

Gavi, who came through the youth system at Camp Nou, has provided one assist in seven first-team appearances for Barcelona during the 2021-22 campaign.
