Manchester United are reportedly contemplating whether or not to send Dean Henderson out on loan in order to help his bid to become England's number one.

Manchester United are reportedly exploring the possibility of sending Dean Henderson out on loan for the remainder of the 2020-21 campaign.

The 23-year-old is currently playing second fiddle to David de Gea at Old Trafford and is yet to make a Premier League appearance for the Red Devils, with Henderson starting two EFL Cup games and United's 2-1 defeat to Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League.

However, with international football now set to take centre stage, Henderson has reportedly been told by England manager Gareth Southgate that he needs to be getting regular first-team action if he is to challenge Jordan Pickford for the number one spot.

As a result, ESPN claim that United are willing to sanction a temporary exit for Henderson, who starred while on loan at Sheffield United in their impressive 2019-20 Premier League campaign.

Should Henderson be allowed to depart on loan, the report claims that any hopes of a January exit for Sergio Romero would be dashed, with the Argentine believed to be desperate to leave after falling down the pecking order.

Indeed, Romero has been left out of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Premier League squad for the current season, with homegrown goalkeeper Lee Grant the preferred choice.
