Manchester United, Arsenal 'submit offers for Edinson Cavani'

Manchester United and Arsenal reportedly table bids for PSG striker Edinson Cavani, who is out of contract in the summer and has been linked with Atletico Madrid.

Manchester United and Arsenal have reportedly tabled bids for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.

The 32-year-old's time at the Parc des Princes appears to be coming to an end, with his contract expiring this summer and injury plaguing his 2019-20 campaign.

Cavani has made just four Ligue 1 starts so far this season and is widely expected to leave PSG at the end of the campaign, with Atletico Madrid understood to be leading the race for his signature.

However, El Chiringuito reports that Manchester United, Arsenal and Inter Milan have all made a late attempt to hijack that move by submitting offers of their own for the Uruguayan.

United have previously been linked with attacking reinforcements having allowed Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to leave the club last summer, while speculation has raged over the futures of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette at Arsenal.

Cavani would be available on a free transfer at the end of the season and is allowed to talk to foreign clubs due to there being less than six months remaining on his current deal.

The striker's preference is thought to be a switch to Atletico, although that could change if one of the other interested parties are able to offer him a more lucrative package.

Cavani is PSG's leading goalscorer of all time, netting 198 times in 290 games for the club including 136 goals in just 194 Ligue 1 appearances.
