Manchester United are handed a boost in their pursuit of Feyenoord's 22-year-old left-back Tyrell Malacia, according to a report.

Manchester United have reportedly been handed a boost in their pursuit of Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia.

The 22-year-old has spent his entire career with the Eredivisie outfit, scoring four goals and providing 10 assists in 136 appearances across all competitions.

Malacia, who has two years remaining on his contract, has been a first-team regular for Feyenoord over the last two and a half years and made a total of 50 appearances in the 2021-22 campaign.

Both Man United and Lyon are believed to be closely monitoring the left-back, but Dutch news outlet De Telegraaf claims that the latter have hit a stumbling block in negotiations with Feyenoord.

The report adds that Lyon are unprepared to pay Malacia's €15m (£12.9m) price tag upfront, and have instead made numerous proposals which involve paying bonuses that come close to Feyenoord's valuation.

Man United, meanwhile, are 'seriously interested' in Malacia and could be willing to match Feyenoord's asking price, but they are currently prioritising other targets.

The Red Devils are believed to be in talks with Barcelona over a proposed move for midfielder Frenkie de Jong, while they are also allegedly in discussions with Erik ten Hag's former club Ajax regarding deals for Antony, Jurrien Timber and Lisandro Martinez.
