Premier League runners-up Liverpool reportedly decide to end their interest in Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt.

Liverpool have reportedly decided to end their interest in signing Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt.

The Merseyside giants have been one of a number of clubs linked with the centre-back, who will leave the Dutch giants during the summer transfer window.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has opted to prioritise additions in other areas of the pitch.

The report claims that the German wants to sign a new left-back and versatile forward, while a replacement may also be required for backup goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

Liverpool currently have four centre-backs in their first-team squad, although De Ligt could have been brought in to replace Dejan Lovren or Joel Matip.

Barcelona, Manchester City and Manchester United have all been linked with offers for the 19-year-old.
