Liverpool 'not interested in Real Betis full-back Junior Firpo'

Contrary to recent speculation Liverpool reportedly have no interest in signing Real Betis full-back Junior Firpo, who has also been linked with Manchester United.

Liverpool reportedly hold no interest in signing Real Betis full-back Junior Firpo this summer, despite speculation to the contrary.

Recent reports had suggested that Jurgen Klopp had identified the 22-year-old as a transfer target in a bid to provide more competition for Andrew Robertson at left-back following the departure of Alberto Moreno.

The European champions were thought to be considering meeting Firpo's £45m release clause, but the Liverpool Echo claims that they have not discussed the possibility of bringing him to Anfield.

Liverpool remain in the market for a new left-back but are unwilling to pay so much for a back-up to Robertson, who has established himself as the clear first choice in that position.

Firpo is still expected to leave Betis this summer, though, with Manchester United and Real Madrid among the clubs still monitoring his situation at the Estadio Benito Villamarin.

The Betis academy product is currently away on international duty with Spain at the Under-21 European Championship in Italy and San Marino.
