Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips reportedly tells the club that he would like to join Manchester City in this summer's transfer window.

Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has reportedly told the club that he would like to join Manchester City this summer.

The 26-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium, with Pep Guardiola allegedly identifying the Yorkshireman as his primary target to replace Fernandinho.

City are understood to have tabled an official bid to sign Phillips, moving ahead of the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Aston Villa and West Ham United in the race for his signature.

According to Football Insider, Phillips is 'eager' to join the Premier League champions and has informed Leeds' hierarchy that he is keen for the transfer to take place this summer.

Phillips is under contract at Elland Road until June 2024, but the report adds that it is looking increasingly likely that the midfielder will be given the green light by Leeds to join Man City.

The 19-cap England international, who could cost around £50m, has made 234 appearance for his boyhood club across all competitions since making his debut in 2015, scoring 14 goals and registering 13 assists.

Man City also have their eyes on Brighton & Hove Albion's Marc Cucurella, with one report claiming that they are 'poised' to make their first offer for the left-back.
