Juventus are the favourites to re-sign Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba on a free transfer, according to a report.

Juventus are reportedly at the head of the queue for Paul Pogba, as the midfielder prepares to leave Manchester United on a free transfer at the end of June.

The 29-year-old has scored once and provided nine assists in 27 appearances for the Red Devils this season, but he has been on the sidelines since the middle of April due to a calf problem and is unlikely to be involved in his side's final match of the campaign at Crystal Palace next weekend.

Pogba is not expected to pen a new deal at Old Trafford, meanwhile, meaning that he is set to be available on a free transfer this summer.

There has been a host of speculation surrounding the France international's future in recent months, with the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Bayern Munich all credited with an interest in his services.

However, according to Goal, Juventus are in a strong position to sign the World Cup winner on a free transfer for the second time.

Pogba initially left Man United on a free transfer in 2012 to join the Old Lady, where he won four Serie A titles and two Coppa Italia crowns during a successful spell.

The midfielder ultimately returned to Old Trafford in a £89.3m deal ahead of the 2016-17 campaign, but he has largely struggled to show his best form for the 20-time English champions.

Pogba made just seven appearances for Man United in his first spell at the club, but he has played 226 times for the Red Devils since his return.

The report claims that Juventus are planning to meet with Pogba's representatives next week with the view to coming to an agreement over a contract.

PSG continue to be credited with an interest, though, and the Turin giants are said to be wary of a possible approach from the French champions, who would be able to offer a better financial package.

Pogba is believed to want a four-year contract worth £9.3m a year, which could prove problematic for Juventus and potentially put the brakes on a return to Turin.

However, the Old Lady are confident that the midfielder's love for the club will allow them to bring him back on a free transfer ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

Pogba missed a chunk of football in the first half of the season due to a hamstring problem, while he has not been seen in a Man United shirt since limping off against Liverpool on April 19.

The Frenchman, who has stepped up his recovery from a calf issue over the last week, scored 34 goals and registered 40 assists in 178 appearances for Juventus between 2012 and 2016.
