Andreas Granqvist flattered by Manchester United interest

Sweden captain Andreas Granqvist admits that he is flattered to be linked with a move to Manchester United, but reveals that there has been no concrete interest yet.

Sweden captain Andreas Granqvist has admitted that he is flattered to have been linked with a January move to Manchester United.

The 33-year-old is understood to have been identified by manager Jose Mourinho as a surprise candidate to improve the club's defensive issues when the transfer window reopens.

Mourinho has regularly switched his centre-back pairings so far this season with his side struggling for form, and the Portuguese boss is thought to be considering signing Granqvist on a short-term deal.

The Helsingborg defender confirmed that a number of clubs are interested in his services, but revealed that he has not yet received an offer from United.

"I know that there is a lot of interest for me. United is incredibly flattering but I have not heard anything concrete yet," Granqvist told FotbollDireckt.

Granqvist, who spent time with Wigan Athletic between 2006 and 2008, captained Sweden to the quarter-finals of this summer's World Cup in Russia.
