Premier League Team of the Week - Ollie Watkins, Harry Kane, Son Heung-min

Sports Mole selects its Premier League team of the week for a remarkable gameweek four, including hat-trick hero Ollie Watkins, Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

The 2020-21 Premier League season continues to amaze and astonish following another goal-laden weekend which saw 41 fly in.

Twenty-five of those came on Sunday alone as one of the most incredible days in Premier League history played out, headlined by English football's two most successful clubs being embarrassed.

Manchester United slumped to a chastening 6-1 defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur - a result which ordinarily would have been a standout one in an entire season but was overshadowed within a couple of hours when Aston Villa humbled champions Liverpool 7-2 in one of the most remarkable scorelines ever seen in the Premier League.

Sunday also saw league leaders Leicester City beaten 3-0 at home by West Ham United, meaning that Everton are the new pace-setters having continued their perfect start with a 4-2 triumph over Brighton & Hove Albion.

Manchester City dropped more points in a 1-1 draw with Leeds United, but Chelsea returned to winning ways while there were also victories for Newcastle United, Southampton, Arsenal and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Unsurprisingly in yet another high-scoring week, there was not a huge amount of competition for the gloves in this team.

Indeed, usually Ederson's error for Leeds' equaliser would have been enough to rule him out of a spot in this team, but he redeemed himself with a string of important saves, including a stunning one to claw Rodrigo Moreno's header onto the crossbar, and ultimately earned Man City one point rather than costing them three.

It is indicative of the attacking nature of this week's team that the back four all arguably contributed more going forward than they did in defence, particularly Tottenham's Serge Aurier, who helped himself to a goal and an assist in the rout of Man United.

Chelsea's Ben Chilwell matched that return and added a clean sheet against Crystal Palace, and he is joined in this XI by teammate Kurt Zouma, who scored the Blues' second with a towering header.

Aaron Cresswell was also a contender at left-back, but he has been playing on the left side of a back three recently so we have switched him to centre-back this week courtesy of his two assists and clean sheet against Leicester.

Everton's Yerry Mina, Arsenal's Hector Bellerin and West Ham's Angelo Ogbonna all deserve honourable mentions in defence, while there are plenty of notable names who miss out in midfield too.

Jorginho, Tanguy Ndombele, Pablo Fornals, Ross Barkley and Oriol Romeu were all on the scoresheet and would be close to making the team in an ordinary week, but it was impossible to leave any of the chosen midfielders out.

Indeed, with such a plethora of attacking talent, we have had to move forwards such as James Rodriguez, who scored two and assisted one, and Jack Grealish, who scored twice and chalked up three assists, back into the midfield three.

Almost every Aston Villa player could lay a claim to a spot in the team given their truly remarkable win over Liverpool, and John McGinn was at the forefront of that with a goal and an assist too.

Hat-trick hero Ollie Watkins completes the Aston Villa trio and was the first name on the scoresheet having also helped himself to an assist, and it could have been even better for the summer signing as he crashed one against the crossbar too.

While that Villa triumvirate were the chief tormentors of Liverpool, for Tottenham it was Harry Kane and Son Heung-min who did most of the damage against United.

Both players scored twice and set each other up for one of their goals, continuing the fruitful partnership between them so far this season.

Plenty of other players also deserve mentions in the forward areas, with Allan Saint-Maximin, Callum Wilson, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Tammy Abraham, Michail Antonio, Trezeguet, Mohamed Salah and Jarrod Bowen among the unfortunate ones to miss out.

The 11 players selected in this team had a direct hand in 27 of the 41 goals this weekend, though, making the competition for places greater than ever.
