Pablo Zabaleta: 'Anthony Martial has been very impressive'

Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta admits that Manchester United striker Anthony Martial has been "very impressive" since joining the club.

Pablo Zabaleta has admitted that Anthony Martial has been "very impressive" since joining Manchester United from AS Monaco during this summer's transfer window.

The striker's £36m transfer fee drew criticism from some, but the 19-year-old has scored five goals in his first nine appearances for Louis van Gaal's side.

Ahead of this afternoon's Manchester derby, the Manchester City defender told the Daily Star: "United have enough quality, especially this lad who has had a very impressive start to the season and is going really well.

"He's a powerful, skilful player who has scored a few goals, a big one in Moscow. Martial is a really good quality player. He is young and I know they paid big money for him but he is doing really well."

Martial was on the scoresheet in midweek, netting the equaliser in the 1-1 draw with CSKA Moscow in the Champions League.
