Manchester United loanee Odion Ighalo vows to fight for his place in the Red Devils team, putting in extra hours in training to help fulfil his ambition.

Manchester United forward Odion Ighalo has vowed to "give his blood" to fight for his place in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

The Nigeria international, who is on loan at Old Trafford from Chinese outfit Shanghai Shenhua, opened his United account in their 5-0 thrashing of Club Brugge in the second leg of their last-32 Europa League clash on Thursday.

Ighalo scored United's second goal on the night as they recorded a 6-1 aggregate victory, and the striker is even carrying out extra training in order to further his progression.

Speaking to the official club website, Ighalo said: "This is what I am working for. This is what I dream of and what I dreamt of when I was a kid. Now it is in my hands so I have to fight for it. I will give my blood to get it.

"I am still working hard in every training session and doing some extra to make sure I get up to the level. When I'm called upon, I will give my best.

"The lads are all great guys. It's a happy dressing room, the coach and everyone around the club make me feel at home. I'm really enjoying my time here.

"We need to keep the momentum going and keep winning games and fighting in every match, to make sure we get our objectives at the end of the season."

The 30-year-old played the final 20 minutes of United's 1-1 draw with Everton on Sunday, a result which leaves Solskjaer's side fifth in the table.
