Michael Carrick says that he has not yet been in contact with new Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

Michael Carrick has said that he has not yet been in contact with Ralf Rangnick, with the caretaker Manchester United boss simply focusing on Thursday's Premier League clash with Arsenal.

Rangnick has agreed a deal to become Man United's interim manager for the remainder of the 2021-22 campaign, but the German will not lead the team against the Gunners, as he waits for his work permit.

Carrick, who has overseen the last two matches against Villarreal and Chelsea, has revealed that he has not yet spoken to the club's incoming head coach.

"No, it's pretty much as it was with the both games we've been to. Because of the process and the work permit, we haven't been able to, so we've carried on as we have done. It's worked well for the last two games and hopefully it will as well tomorrow," Carrick told reporters.

Carrick led Man United to a 2-0 win over Villarreal in the Champions League last week before overseeing a 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.

Rangnick will manage the 20-time English champions for the remainder of the season before taking on a two-year consultancy role at Old Trafford.
