The Brazilian shot-stopper has become renowned for his distribution and footwork since arriving at the Etihad Stadium, and has history of taking free kicks during the early stages of his career for Ribeirao and Rio Ave.

Guardiola has previously affirmed that the 27-year-old would never take a penalty during a game, but Ederson nevertheless insists that he is one to rely on from 12 yards at the Etihad Stadium.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Ederson said: "I don't train much free kicks. I trained penalties and when I played for Riberao I took some free kicks but that is in the past now.

"That is in the past and we have some very good free-kick takers. Penalties, I am the best penalty-taker but I am not chosen to take them. The most important thing is that we score goals and win the game."
