Liverpool are lining up a new contract offer for their 30-year-old forward Roberto Firmino, according to a report.

Liverpool have lined up a new contract offer for their 30-year-old forward Roberto Firmino, according to a report.

The Brazilian's current deal at Anfield expires at the end of the 2022-23 season, and with no agreement yet in place regarding a renewal, he will be free to leave the club on a free transfer upon its expiration.

With the arrivals of Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz over the last two seasons, Firmino has seen his playing time decrease alongside Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in Liverpool's forward line.

However, the Liverpool Echo are reporting that the Merseyside club wish to retain Firmino along with their other four forward options previously mentioned, and have prepared a contract extension as a result.

Although, the report does suggest that despite the expected offer from the club, it is not yet clear whether Firmino will wish to extend his stay at Anfield, with Liverpool set to concentrate on contract talks with Salah and Mane before pushing ahead with the Brazilian's.

Firmino moved to Liverpool from Hoffenheim for around £37m in the summer of 2015, and so far this season, has gone on to make 31 appearances across all competitions, scoring 11 goals.
