Jurgen Klopp: 'Liverpool don't need striker cover'

Jurgen Klopp says that Liverpool do not need to sign a striker despite injuries to Daniel Sturridge and Danny Ings.

Jurgen Klopp has said that Liverpool do not need to sign any strikers in January despite injuries to Daniel Sturridge and Danny Ings.

Sturridge picked up an injury during Sunday's defeat to Newcastle United and could be out until the New Year, while Ings remains unavailable due to a knee injury.

"At the moment he's training on aerobic things which is important to give him a better base than before. That's been Daniel's history. All we can do is to train and give him more resistance with the intensity of football," Klopp told reporters.

"We have [Christian] Benteke, [Divock] Origi and [Roberto] Firmino. We also have Ingsy, but he's not available at the moment. It's a situation I can work with.

"If we sign a new striker who can help us immediately then when Daniel's back we'll have a problem of having too many players."

Klopp has previously said that he is in no rush to make signings in the January transfer window.
