Jurgen Klopp 'retains full backing of Liverpool board'

Jurgen Klopp reportedly retains the full backing of the Liverpool board in spite of the fact that the champions have now lost six home games on the bounce.

The powers-that-be at Liverpool reportedly still have full faith in manager Jurgen Klopp despite the champions' alarming slump.

A 1-0 home defeat to Fulham on Sunday represented the Reds' sixth home defeat on the bounce, and their title defence is in tatters as they lie eighth in the Premier League table.

A 22-point chasm separates Liverpool from runaway leaders Manchester City with 10 games left to play, but according to the Daily Mail, Liverpool's owners are convinced that Klopp is the right man to pull Liverpool out of their slump.

The report claims that Fenway Sports Group have always demanded Champions League qualification from the man at the helm, and even though Liverpool's top-four chances are also in jeopardy, the Reds' board have not lost faith in him despite Liverpool's poor form.

Furthermore, with the prospect of Liverpool's injury list easing as the 2021-22 season prepares to kick off - plus with a possible summer of spending - Reds chiefs are convinced that Klopp will oversee a turnaround in fortunes next term.

Away from their faltering Premier League campaign, Liverpool now turn their attention to the second leg of their Champions League last-16 battle with RB Leipzig on Wednesday night.
