Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah could set a new Premier League goalscoring record if he keeps up his 100% strike rate when his side host Bournemouth on Saturday.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah could set a new Premier League goalscoring record when his side welcome Bournemouth to Anfield on Saturday lunchtime.

The Egyptian is expected to return to Jurgen Klopp's starting lineup after being named among the subs for Tuesday night's 2-0 FA Cup defeat at Chelsea - Liverpool's third loss in their last four games.

However, they are heavy favourites to return to winning ways at home to relegation-threatened Bournemouth this weekend as they bid to move to within nine points of their first title in 30 years.

Part of the reason for the odds being so heavily in favour of Liverpool is Salah's phenomenal record against the Cherries, which has seen him score in all five of his previous Premier League meetings.

The only other player in Premier League history to have scored in 100% of his games against an opponent while facing them at least five times is Burnley's Chris Wood, who has netted every time he has played against West Ham United.

Salah, who is due to make his 100th league appearance for the Reds, could therefore become the first player to boast a 100% scoring record from six games against a single team should he find the back of the net against Eddie Howe's side this weekend.

The 27-year-old has seven goals in those five meetings with Bournemouth and has 15 goals and six assists from 25 Premier League outings so far this season.
