Liverpool set new winning record with victory over Tottenham Hotspur

Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur six times in a row, and three times in succession away from home, for the first time ever in the league following Thursday's 3-1 win.

Liverpool set a new winning record over Tottenham Hotspur as they overcame Jose Mourinho's men 3-1 in the capital on Thursday evening.

The champions had failed to win in five and failed to score in four league games before their trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but they produced a dominant performance as Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Trent Alexander-Arnold all found the back of the net on the night.

Liverpool had already come out on top in their last two matches at Tottenham's ground, and Thursday's win means that they have won three away games against Spurs in the league for the first time ever.

Furthermore, the Reds have also beaten Spurs six times in a row in the top flight for the first time in their history, as a 2,000-strong Anfield crowd witnessed their team beat Mourinho's side 2-1 earlier in the campaign.

Jurgen Klopp's side had never played Tottenham on a Thursday in the league before, and by winning this week's game, they join Everton and West Ham United as the third club to beat Spurs in the top flight on every day of the week.

Liverpool broke back into the top four with their impressive win in North London, although leaders Manchester City are six points ahead of them with a game in hand.
