Liverpool to face Southampton in League Cup quarter-finals

Liverpool will face Southampton in the quarter-finals of the League Cup at St Mary's Stadium, while Manchester City will play Hull City in their bid to reach the last four.

Liverpool will face Southampton in the quarter-finals of the League Cup at St Mary's Stadium as Jurgen Klopp chases his first piece of silverware in England.

The Reds defeated Bournemouth in the fourth round of the competition as Nathaniel Clyne's first-half strike proved to be the difference between the sides at Anfield.

Clyne, along with Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren, will return to his former team in their bid to help Klopp's men reach the semi-finals of the tournament.

Meanwhile Middlesbrough, the conquerors of Manchester United in the last 16, will host Everton at the Riverside Stadium as Aitor Karanka's side look to reach the semi-finals of the competition for the first time since the 2003-04 campaign.

Manchester City overcame Crystal Palace with ease in their clash at the Etihad Stadium, and have been drawn against Hull City in the last eight following Steve Bruce's men's victory over Leicester City on penalties on Tuesday.

Sheffield Wednesday's impressive performance in their win against Arsenal at Hillsborough has earned the Owls a trip to the Britannia Stadium to face Stoke City, who knocked out holders Chelsea on penalties.
