Claude Puel: 'Leicester City deserved at least a draw at Manchester United'

Manager Claude Puel says that his Leicester City side deserved "a minimum of a draw" after being edged out by Manchester United in the Premier League.

Manager Claude Puel has claimed that his Leicester City side deserved "a minimum of a draw" from their Premier League fixture with Manchester United.

The Foxes suffered a 2-1 defeat in the top-flight opener at Old Trafford, with Jamie Vardy's late effort only proving to be a consolation after Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw had given United a two-goal lead.

However, Puel revealed that he had been left impressed by his team's performance, despite acknowledging that his players 'struggled for energy' in the second half.

The Frenchman told BBC Sport: "It was a good game, a good performance from my team. Certainly we lacked more energy in the second half. That's normal for the first game.

"We conceded an early goal, it was harsh. It was not a good result but it's a good performance. We gave our best, it was a difficult team against a great team. We deserved a different result.

"We showed good control, good football, a lot of chances. We had chances to score in the first half. It was more difficult in the second half without the energy. I am happy with the squad and the transfer window. We need to continue and build some good momentum. We deserved a minimum of a draw."

Leicester are next in action when they host Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, August 18.
