James Beattie appointed first-team coach at Leeds United

Former Accrington Stanley manager James Beattie is appointed Leeds United's new first-team coach, reuniting him with former Swansea City colleague Garry Monk.

Former Accrington Stanley manager James Beattie has been appointed first-team coach at Leeds United.

The 38-year-old was part of manager Garry Monk's staff at Swansea City in the second half of 2015 along with Pep Clotet, with the trio now reunited at Elland Road.

Beattie told Sky Sports News: "I'm delighted to be here. It's a huge club and I'm looking forward to the challenge ahead.

"I've worked with Garry and Pep before and I know how they work with the high standards and the values that they'll bring to the club.

"This club has got untold potential to be whatever it wants to be, and we see that as a challenge. I feel that the level of training and coaching we can bring to the club is of a very high standard."

Beattie was named Stanley boss in May 2013 but left the League Two club in September 2014, having won only 16 of his 58 games in charge.
