Juventus striker Fernando Llorente vying for World Cup place

Juventus striker Fernando Llorente says that he is gunning for a spot in Vicente del Bosque's Spain squad for this summer's World Cup in Brazil.

Juventus striker Fernando Llorente has set his sights on winning a spot in Spain's World Cup squad after scoring the equaliser in last night's 1-1 draw with Lazio.

The 28-year-old has scored nine goals since joining the Bianconeri from Athletic Bilbao on a free transfer in the summer, which has helped the champions establish a nine-point lead at the top of Serie A.

"Being a footballer is a long career and all sorts of things can happen," Reuters quotes the Spaniard as saying.

"I know that I need to work hard if I want to be at the World Cup, and the most important thing for now is to carry on winning with Juventus."

Fernando Torres, Alvaro Negredo, Roberto Soldado, Diego Costa and David Villa are all vying for places in Vicente del Bosque's 23-man squad for Brazil.
