Stefano Mauri released from jail

Stefano Mauri is under house arrest after being released from custody for his suspected role in the match-fixing scandal in Italy.

Lazio captain Stefano Mauri has been released from custody after being questioned over the Italian match-fixing scandal.

However, the 32-year-old will remain under house arrest, along with a clutch of other professional footballers, after being arrested by police on May 28 on suspicion of committing sporting fraud.

A number of high-profile figures within the Italian game have been put under investigation for their suspected roles in the 'Calcioscommese', including former international Giuseppe Signori and current Juventus boss Antonio Conte.

Zenit St. Petersburg star Domenico Criscito has also been left out of Cesare Prandelli's Italy squad for the Euro 2012 championships after being investigated as a result of the scandal.

Prandelli has gone on record as saying that he would have no problem if the national side were removed from the competition as the situation unfolds.

The investigation continues.
