Joachim Low signs new deal to stay on as Germany head coach until 2020

Joachim Low extends his contract as Germany head coach until the end of Euro 2020.

Joachim Low has extended his contract as Germany head coach until 2020.

The 56-year-old has penned fresh terms with the German Football Association that will take him through to the end of the next European Championships.

Low boasts an impressive record having overseen 95 wins, 23 draws and 23 defeats, but the head coach's best achievement so far is guiding the nation to World Cup glory in 2014.

With regards to the Euros, Germany finished runner-up in 2008 under Low's leadership and made it into third place four years later.

In the most recent tournament, Die Mannschaft progressed into the semi-finals, but were beaten 2-0 by hosts France, who went on to lose in the final against Portugal.

After his new deal was announced, Low said: "Developing this team and these players and trying to take them to the highest level is a real joy."

Low spent two years as assistant coach to Jurgen Klinsmann before being promoted to the top job in 2006.
