Gary Cahill not concerned about Crystal Palace future

Gary Cahill says that he is not concerned about his Crystal Palace future even though his contract expires this summer.

Gary Cahill has insisted that he is not concerned about his Crystal Palace future even though his contract expires this summer.

The 35-year-old is one of 16 first-team players that will see his current deal run out in June as well as manager Roy Hodgson and his backroom staff, with wholesale changes to be considered by club chairman Steve Parish.

Cahill, who earned 61 international caps for England, is relaxed about his future and has not yet considered retiring at the end of this campaign.

"I am in a different situation to some in terms of their age. I am just looking to consistently try and perform at the level I want to be at. I am very calm about the situation, it is not too much of a stress at the moment," the two-time Premier League winner told the Evening Standard.

"There are a lot out of contract and I am sure there are going to be changes made in the summer. I'm sure we'll find out that news, hopefully soon really so the lads can get sorted on their futures.

"By the end of the season, as long as I feel as fit as I do now, feel as hungry to win games, go out and perform and train as I do now then for sure I'll carry on playing."

Cahill, who joined Palace in August 2019, has struggled with injuries this season, which has seen him feature just 11 times in the Premier League, scoring once against Newcastle United in February.
