Juan Mata linked with Napoli

Napoli have allegedly contacted Chelsea about the availability of Juan Mata.

Napoli have allegedly made tentative enquiries about the availability of Chelsea's Juan Mata.

Representatives from the Serie A outfit contacted the Blues following the midfielder's outburst when he was substituted against Southampton on New Year's Day, The Mirror reports.

Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan and Liverpool have also been linked with Mata, with a move to a rival Premier League side such as the Reds considered his least likely destination.

Napoli's purported interest in Mata follows speculation that Chelsea have made a bid to sign Gonzalo Higuain from the Italian club.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has expressed his desire to keep Mata at the club despite the Spaniard's lack of playing time this season.
