Jose Mourinho: 'For me the transfer window is over now that the season is here'

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho refuses to rule out a move for Everton defender John Stones, but says that the "transfer window is over" now that the new season is looming.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has suggested that he will not be thinking about the transfer window now that the new Premier League season is approaching, but has refused to rule out a move for Everton youngster John Stones.

The Blues' pursuit of the 21-year-old centre-back has been ongoing throughout the summer, but Mourinho has stated that his main focus will now move towards his own squad as they prepare for Saturday's clash with Swansea City.

"What happens happens, but I won't lose any time thinking about the transfer window," Mourinho told talkSPORT.

"For me the transfer window is over. I don't like the transfer window open when the competition starts. I know it is open, I know my club can buy or sell, but I don't like that feeling.

"As a coach I am thinking about my players, my squad, and I don't want to think about transfers. Clubs and players need quiet time and respect when the competition starts."

Chelsea have already brought in the likes of Asmir Begovic, Radamel Falcao and Nathan this summer.
