Ashley Cole keen on returning to Chelsea as scout or coach

Former Chelsea full-back Ashley Cole hopes to return to Stamford Bridge in the future as either a scout or a coach.

Ashley Cole has expressed his desire to return to Chelsea in the future either as a scout or as a coach.

The full-back spent eight years at Stamford Bridge from 2006 to 2014, making 338 appearances in all competitions and winning the Premier League and Champions League.

Now 36, the former Arsenal man has been playing for MLS giants Los Angeles Galaxy since 2016, but he is thinking about a return to London.

"I'm enjoying it here at the moment, but I would like to go back to England and work for Chelsea in some capacity if I could, so that would be my first choice," Cole told FourFourTwo.

"Coaching or being a scout is something I've always considered and enjoyed while watching games. I try to nurture young players coming through, so it's something I have in the back of my mind for after I finish playing.

"But I want to play for as long as I possibly can, because once you finish playing, you are done for life."

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has employed a number of former players in staff roles at Cobham, with Carlo Cudicini plying his trade as one of Antonio Conte's assistants, while Paulo Ferreira and Eddie Newton help manage the club's loan players.
