Chelsea legend Ashley Cole tips former Derby County teammate Mason Mount to become "world class" following his goalscoring home debut for Frank Lampard's side.

Former Chelsea full-back Ashley Cole has claimed that Mason Mount has all of the attributes to become a "world-class" player for the club.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan under Frank Lampard at Derby County, where Cole was a teammate of his as the Rams reached the Championship playoffs.

Mount has since returned to Chelsea and has started both Premier League matches so far this season, marking his home debut for the club with a goal in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Leicester.

Cole was impressed with what he saw from the youngster and tipped him to enjoy a bright future if he continues to progress at his current rate.

"Mount is very mature for his age. He's got a good head on his shoulders and he wants to improve all the time and he will do because he's willing to listen," Cole told Sky Sports News.

"He can play anywhere in the midfield, right, left, holding because his range of passing is so good. He needs to know when to slow the game down, everything doesn't have to be 100mph.

"He can potentially be world class but he obviously has a lot to learn."

Mount scored 11 goals in 44 appearances during his season-long loan spell at Derby.
