Monday's Chelsea transfer talk news roundup: Ross Barkley, Gerard Pique, Clement Lenglet

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Chelsea on Monday, November 16.

The summer transfer window has now closed, with Chelsea among the busiest clubs and biggest spenders in world football.

After two windows without signing a single player, the Blues made up for lost time by splashing well over £200m on the likes of Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Edouard Mendy and Thiago Silva. Attention will now switch to the January window and whether Chelsea will invest heavily again.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings from Stamford Bridge.

Monday morning's Chelsea transfer talk news roundup:

Frank Lampard 'views Ross Barkley as part of Chelsea future'

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has reportedly assured Ross Barkley that he has a future at the club.

The 26-year-old was allowed to leave Stamford Bridge on loan over the summer, with the midfielder dropping down the pecking order after a busy transfer window for the Blues.

Barkley has been in impressive form for Aston Villa during the 2020-21 campaign, contributing three goals and one assist in eight appearances for Dean Smith's side in all competitions.

According to 90min, the England international's form at Villa Park has caught the attention of Lampard, who has made it clear to the former Everton youngster that his career with Chelsea is not over.

The report claims that Barkley's attitude since leaving on loan has also impressed the Blues boss.

The attacker has scored 11 times and registered 11 assists in 86 appearances for his parent side since arriving from Everton in January 2018.

Barcelona 'considering Antonio Rudiger as Eric Garcia alternative'

Barcelona are reportedly weighing up a January move for Chelsea's Antonio Rudiger.

The Catalan giants are expected to move for a new centre-back at the start of 2021 as head coach Ronald Koeman has limited options in that area of the field.

Samuel Umtiti could depart in the winter transfer window, leaving the La Liga side with only Gerard Pique, Clement Lenglet and Ronald Araujo as first-team options.

According to Sport, Barca have identified Rudiger as a possible acquisition as the club are still struggling to come to an agreement with Manchester City over Eric Garcia.

Rudiger was strongly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge over the summer, but the transfer window closed with the defender still at the club.

The 27-year-old has not played a single minute of Premier League football this season, though, and is thought to be keen on a winter switch to ensure that he secures a spot in the Germany squad for next summer's European Championships.

Chelsea are allegedly willing to sell Rudiger at the start of 2021 as they look to raise funds to move for West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.
