UEFA could ban both Real Madrid and Juventus from the Champions League for a year due to their role in the European Super League, according to a report.

UEFA are reportedly considering banning both Real Madrid and Juventus from the Champions League for a year due to their role in the European Super League.

Madrid president Florentino Perez and Juve chairman Andrea Agnelli were both leading figures in the breakaway competition, which has collapsed following the withdrawal of a number of clubs.

According to Deportes Cuatro, UEFA want to remove Los Blancos from this season's Champions League, where they are due to face Chelsea in the semi-finals, and also ban them from the 2021-22 competition.

The report claims that Juve could also be suspended from next season's tournament as UEFA prepare to hand out severe punishment to the European heavyweights, with a decision to be made on Friday.

Perez has continued to speak out on the Super League, with the 74-year-old insisting that the competition is on "standby" despite nine of the 12 founding teams withdrawing.

Agnelli, though, admitted on Wednesday that the project could not proceed after AC Milan, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid followed Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool in withdrawing following a huge backlash.
