Ronny Deila hints at Shaun Maloney Celtic return?

Ronny Deila reveals that Celtic are considering a move for Wigan Athletic's Shaun Maloney.

Celtic manager Ronny Deila has opened the door for Wigan Athletic's Shaun Maloney to return to the Scottish champions for a third time.

Wigan boss Malky Mackay has admitted that the club could lose the midfielder during the January window.

Deila has since revealed that the Hoops are considering a bid for the 31-year-old.

He is quoted by the Daily Record as saying: "I am aware of all the Scottish players. Maloney is a good player and he is one we know about. He is at Wigan at the moment but we will wait and see.

"I have seen him many times. He is a quick, creative player and he is a very good person with a great mentality. He looks like a Celtic player."

Celtic are currently one point behind leaders Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership.
