Burnley, Brighton & Hove Albion ends goalless

A goalless draw at Turf Moor between Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion leaves the hosts in third place in the Championship.

Burnley have fallen further adrift of the automatic promotion places after being held to a goalless draw at Turf Moor by Brighton & Hove Albion.

After a slow start to the game, Michael Kightly's strike following a corner kick came back off the post, with Dean Marney's rebound hitting a Brighton defender and going to safety.

Kazenga LuaLua come close to making the breakthrough for his side, though Tom Heaton came rushing out of goal to prevent the striker putting his side ahead.

The second half continued in a similar fashion, with Danny Ings cross failing to be converted by Michael Duff who couldn't get the right contact on the ball at the far post.

Thomas Juszczak was forced into an important save with 10 minutes remaining, just moments before opposition keeper Heaton produced a fine save of his own to deny Andrea Orlandi.

Both sides looked for the points, though the contest ended goalless meaning Burnley remain in third place.
