Winger Michael Kightly: 'Strong mindset key for Burnley'

Burnley winger Michael Kightly cites a strong mindset as being essential to Burnley's chances of success this season, as the club look to continue a five match unbeaten run.

Burnley winger Michael Kightly has said that a strong mindset is essential for Sean Dyche's side as they attempt to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

The 29-year-old, who has appeared in all of the Clarets' fixtures so far this season, revealed that the mood in the camp is positive following a five game unbeaten run.

Kightly, speaking about the team's stalemate with Derby on Monday, told the club's official website: "It was a good point for us. In the first half we played pretty well but Andre Gray going off took away that pace in behind which helped them, and second half they had a real go but we dug in. To be a successful team you need to be solid first and foremost and then build on that and get your goals.

"The season we got promoted we had that and we're showing we've got that at the minute so hopefully we can build on that and take it into Saturday's game. Reading are a decent team with a good squad and it'll be a tough game. But we're aware of that and we can go into the game with a positive mindset and hopefully get the win.

"Home form is key and then going away it is key to be solid and try to get points that way. We want to keep it strong as it's been good for the last couple of years."

Third-placed Burnley take on sixth-placed Reading at Turf Moor on Saturday.
