Video: James Hayter recalls fastest Football League hat-trick 10 years on

On this day 10 years ago, James Hayter scored three goals in 141 seconds for the fastest hat-trick in Football League history.

Two minutes, 21 seconds. That's all it took James Hayter to find the net three times on this day 10 years ago.

The striker was brought on as an 85th-minute substitute for Bournemouth when their game against Wrexham was seemingly over at 3-0.

Hayter didn't think so and struck the fastest hat-trick in Football League history at Dean Court.

Speaking to Bournemouth's official website recently, Hayter, now at Yeovil Town, said: "It's come up a few times and when I've told some of my teammates that I scored hat-trick in just over two minutes, they don't believe me!

"It was quite surreal at the time so I can see why people don't believe me. Ten years is a long time, but I can still remember it quite vividly.

"It was a big thing at the time and I probably didn't appreciate just how big it was. It's something that I'm really proud of."

Hayter is still scoring goals, netting Yeovil's winner at the weekend against Doncaster.
