Middlesbrough benefit from Barcelona signing Martin Braithwaite?

Middlesbrough reportedly receive a significant sell-on fee courtesy of Martin Braithwaite leaving Leganes for Barcelona this week.

The deal taking Martin Braithwaite from Leganes to Barcelona has reportedly resulted in a financial boost for Middlesbrough.

On Thursday, Barcelona confirmed that they had pushed through the signing of the Denmark international after being granted permission to make an emergency addition to their squad.

As a result of the Catalan giants meeting the forward's £15m release clause, Leganes' hands were tied, and it appears that they must also part with a considerable sum to Middlesbrough.

According to The Sun, the Championship side are due in the region of £2m after including a sell-on clause when they sold the 28-year-old in the summer.

Braithwaite endured a mixed spell at the Riverside Stadium, contributing nine goals from 40 appearances in all competitions.
