Sassuolo, Galatasaray and Schalke 04 are fighting to sign Barcelona centre-back Marlon Santos, according to a report.

Sassuolo, Galatasaray and Schalke 04 are reportedly among the clubs fighting to sign Barcelona centre-back Marlon Santos before the end of the month.

Marlon was strongly linked with a move to Newcastle United in the latter stages of the English transfer window, but the Brazilian was unable to gain a work permit.

According to Sport, Schalke are at the head of the queue for Marlon, but Italian outfit Sassuolo and Turkish giants Galatasaray are also in the hunt for the 22-year-old.

Marlon joined Barcelona from Fluminense on loan in 2016, before completing a permanent deal one year later.

The centre-back spent the 2017-18 campaign on loan at Nice, however, making 27 appearances in all competitions for the French club before returning to Camp Nou this summer.
