Barcelona 'eye Matthijs de Ligt move'

Barcelona reportedly target a move for Ajax centre-back Matthijs de Ligt as the Catalan outfit look for a long-term replacement for Gerard Pique.

Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Ajax centre-back Matthijs de Ligt.

The 18-year-old broke into the Ajax first team last season, and impressed alongside now Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez as the Dutch club reached the final of the Europa League.

De Ligt, who is already a two-time Netherlands international, has also already made 12 appearances for Ajax this term.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have identified the teenager as a long-term replacement for Gerard Pique, and the Spanish giants will press ahead with a move at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

De Ligt came through the youth system at Ajax after joining the club at the age of nine.
