Barcelona are reportedly confident of tying Marc-Andre ter Stegen down to a new deal at Camp Nou, which will see the goalkeeper contracted to the Blaugrana until 2025.

Barcelona are reportedly optimistic that goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen will pen fresh terms in Catalonia.

The Germany international will see his current deal at Camp Nou expire in 2022, although talks over a renewal - complicated due to the coronavirus pandemic - are believed to have been going on for a while.

Now, Marca reports that Barcelona are nearing an agreement to keep the 28-year-old on the books in Catalonia until 2025, although nothing has been signed as of yet.

The report claims that Ter Stegen has requested a yearly salary of €18m (£16.3m) at La Blaugrana, and while the cash-strapped La Liga giants will not be able to fork out that amount of money in the first season of his new deal, the club will ensure that the shot-stopper's demands are met in the coming years.

Ter Stegen has turned out 236 times for Barcelona since arriving from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2014, lifting the La Liga trophy four times and the Champions League once in that time.

The German has been sidelined with a knee injury in the early stages of the 2020-21 campaign, with backup keeper Neto deputising in goal during Ter Stegen's absence.
