Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman speaks out against club president Joan Laporta, as the pair continue to clash over the Dutchman's role.

Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has sent a message to club president Joan Laporta, following emerging reports of arguments in the Blaugrana hierarchy.

The Dutchman was appointed in 2020 and saw the Catalan outfit to a third-placed finish in La Liga, while adding a Copa del Rey to their trophy cabinet last season.

With one year remaining on his current contract, Koeman's future has come into question, amid reports of certain conditions that he must meet in order to earn a new deal at the Camp Nou.

Speaking on his relationship with the president, Koeman said: "My relationship with Laporta has improved, but last week something happened that I don't think is right. He was suggesting that the coach doesn't have all the power. He spoke too much and was not wise on two occasions," according to Marca.

The former Barca player then went on to say: "That can be done in private. I like it when a president is engaged and asks questions, it just shouldn't happen in the press. That was the problem."

Such advancements come amidst reported conflicts over the aims for the club, with Koeman said to be claiming that the Catalan giants are two years away from competing with Europe's strongest sides.
