Report: Arsenal offered Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho for £9m

Arsenal may reportedly be given the chance to sign Philippe Coutinho in a £9m deal that would see one of their players head the opposite way.

Barcelona have reportedly proposed a player-plus-cash deal with Arsenal that could see Philippe Coutinho head to the Emirates Stadium for just £9m.

The La Liga giants are looking to get the Brazil international off their books following his return from a mixed season-long loan spell with Bayern Munich.

Coutinho has admitted that he would like to return to the Premier League, where he starred in his five years with Liverpool, and Arsenal have been credited with an interest.

Barcelona consider the Gunners as their best option to offload the 28-year-old and, according to The Independent, they are prepared to sell him in a cut-price deal.

As part of the transfer, Barca are said to be interested in signing Matteo Guendouzi, who has no future in North London after falling out with boss Mikel Arteta.

The same report indicates that Tottenham Hotspur have not yet ruled out making a move for Coutinho, although chairman Daniel Levy is keen to target younger players this summer.
