Paris Saint-Germain are keeping a close eye on Arsenal centre-back William Saliba due to his contract situation, according to a report.

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly monitoring William Saliba, with the French defender impressing for Arsenal in the early stages of the 2022-23 campaign.

The 21-year-old joined the Gunners from Saint-Etienne in 2019, but he had loan spells at Les Verts, Nice and Marseille before officially arriving at the Emirates Stadium.

Saliba has been a key player for Mikel Arteta's side this season, making 10 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice and providing an assist in nine Premier League outings.

There is currently uncertainty surrounding the France international's future, though, as his contract is due to expire at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

According to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs, PSG are keeping a close eye on Saliba's situation at Arsenal with a view to potentially moving for him in the near future.

"Saliba is the most complicated of the three [along with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli's contracts] really. Arsenal sources fully expect all three to be done," Jacobs told Football Terrace's YouTube channel.

"With Saliba, it's a little bit different. Compared to Martinelli and Saka, he's only been back at the club a few months. He's still coming to terms with a lot of voices in his ear. It's not just Marseille, it's PSG saying: 'if you're that uncertain or unsure about Arsenal, we can potentially bring you in'.

"PSG are definitely still looking for defenders. I see no reason he would want to leave but the only caveat there is he did love living in France. If PSG did come in, it might give him a decision to make. It is still highly likely Saliba signs. Arsenal have confidence but there is a lot more concrete interest around Saliba."

Saliba starred on loan at Marseille during the 2021-22 campaign, making 52 appearances in all competitions, including 36 outings in France's top flight.

Arsenal are on a run of six straight wins in all competitions, including a 1-0 victory against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League on Thursday night.

The Gunners are also currently at the top of the Premier League table, picking up 24 points from their first nine matches of the campaign.

Arteta's side lost at Manchester United at the start of September but have since been victorious in their last three in the league, including a 3-2 success over Liverpool last weekend.

The North London club are currently preparing to visit Leeds United on Sunday, while they will also take on Southampton and Nottingham Forest in the league before the end of the month.
