Arsenal are reportedly preparing a £31m offer for Barcelona's Alejandro Balde after a breakthrough campaign for the 19-year-old.

Arsenal are reportedly preparing a £31m bid for Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed a breakout campaign at Camp Nou so far this season, earning his first cap for Spain at the World Cup and featuring in all four of his country's matches at the tournament, even starting in the 2-1 loss to Japan in their final group game.

Spanish outlet Nacional reports that the Gunners are preparing an offer for the La Masia graduate with the Blaugrana's financial situation still uncertain.

According to the report, Arsenal sporting director Edu is monitoring the player's situation but faces a tough job to convince him to move to the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners currently have Kieran Tierney and Oleksandr Zinchenko that can operate in the left-back position, but with Balde having just 18 months left on his contract, they could make an opportunistic swoop for the starlet.

The Spain international has made 13 La Liga and four Champions League appearances so far this season, assisting three goals.
