Rio Ferdinand calls for Reece Oxford calm

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand says that new West Ham United star Reece Oxford should be allowed to develop out of the spotlight.

Rio Ferdinand has called on the English media to let new West Ham United star Reece Oxford "find his way" in the game after bursting onto the scene this weekend.

The midfielder became the second youngest Premier League starter of all time on Sunday when he was selected for West Ham's league opener against Arsenal at the age of 16 and 198 days.

The teenager starred in his team's 2-0 win at the Emirates, which has led to much talk over what could be a glittering future in the game.

Ferdinand, however, who will be remembered as one of the most decorated defenders in Premier League history, believes that Oxford should be allowed to develop out of the spotlight.

Oxford has been at West Ham since 2011.
