Morgan and Rossiter complete loan moves on final day of transfer window

Morgan was reunited with Jack Ross at Sunderland, while Rossiter tied up his switch to Sky Bet League Two promotion-hopefuls Bury.

Celtic winger Lewis Morgan and Rangers midfielder Jordan Rossiter completed loan moves but there was more action at the bottom of the Ladbrokes Premiership as the final night of the transfer window approached.

Morgan was reunited with former St Mirren boss Jack Ross at Sunderland, while Rossiter tied up his switch to Sky Bet League Two promotion-hopefuls Bury.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers saw captain Scott Brown sign a new two-year deal and is hoping to bring in a new signing on top of the imminent transfer of Ukrainian winger Maryan Shved. The 21-year-old will be loaned back to Karpaty Lviv for the rest of the season.

Hamilton made the first signing of the day before appointing Brian Rice as head coach.

St Johnstone striker David McMillan joined on loan and recently-appointed director of football Allan McGonigal was working on more deals.

"We've got a couple of irons in the fire and hopefully we'll get some answers back from them," he said. "We are still quietly confident we can get at least one in, maybe two."

Dundee have signed two and released two. Former Dundee United player Ryan McGowan is back on Tayside on loan from Bradford, while Sunderland midfielder Ethan Robson also signed a temporary deal. Striker Sofien Moussa has left and Ryan Inniss has returned to parent club Crystal Palace.

Aberdeen reportedly knocked back a major bid from Stoke for defender Scott McKenna and manager Derek McInnes is looking to add one player to his squad.

St Johnstone signed goalkeeper Cammy Bell from Partick Thistle on a six-month deal, while midfielder Stefan Scougall agreed to terminate his contract.

Steve Clarke is looking to add one more player to his Kilmarnock squad after signing Alex Bruce from Wigan on Wednesday.

Clarke said on Thursday morning: "Working on one. Not a big name but I think a big talent and one for the future. There might be one or two on the way out on loan."

St Mirren manager Oran Kearney is hoping to make at least one new signing but is happy to keep looking after the transfer window shuts.

Kearney said: "We're always hunting. I still would be hopeful of doing a little bit of business.

"And again, there's a lot of players today who will probably relieve themselves of contracts and things tick on for the next 10 days to two weeks. So I don't think we are totally time-bound today."

Livingston loaned midfielder Nicky Cadden to Ayr and manager Gary Holt said: "We have a few irons in
the fire, but nothing that is expected."

Hibernian have been linked with a move for Reading striker Marc McNulty, while on-loan striker Jamie Maclaren is said to be keen to move back to Australia.

Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson might have room to bring someone in after reserve players Broque Watson and George Newell went to East Fife and Albion Rovers respectively on loan, 24 hours after Aaron Taylor-Sinclair left for Crewe.

Meanwhile, Craig Levein does not expect any changes to his Hearts squad – because he is heading to a gig.

Asked if there would be any new arrivals, the Jambos boss said: "No, I'm going to watch Snow Patrol tonight, my phone will be off. Brilliant, eh? I don't see (anyone going out). It will be hard to get hold of me."
