Michael Ball and Alfie Boe on course to beat BTS to albums number one

Michael Ball and Alfie Boe's festive album holds a 7,000-strong chart sales lead over the new LP from K-Pop sensations BTS.

Opera singers Michael Ball and Alfie Boe's first Christmas album Together At Christmas is on course to enter the albums chart at number one this week, according to early data from the Official Charts Company.

The record is the pair's fourth collaboration and would be their third number one should it maintain its lead, which amounts to around 7,000 chart sales after the first 72 hours of activity.

K-Pop sensations BTS, who are in the running for top spot on the singles chart, are currently at two with their fifth Korean-language album BE - and lead in both the download and streaming stakes.

Taylor Swift's Folklore jumps a huge 33 places in the midweeks following its release on vinyl and is tracking at three, just ahead of incumbent number one Power Up from AC/DC at four.

Elsewhere, comedian Tim Minchin's debut studio album Apart Together - with an unintentionally-apt theme - is currently at number 14.
