ITV is reportedly planning to recommission The Larkins for a second series.

ITV is reportedly planning to recommission The Larkins for a second series.

The family drama is a reboot of The Darling Buds of May, with Bradley Walsh and Joanna Scanlan taking on the roles originally made famous by David Jason and Pam Ferris.

"The Larkins has turned out to be the Sunday night hit they hoped it would be," a source told The Sun.

"The show has got around 4 million viewers an episode.

"But they have been thrilled by the fact it's been watched by almost an equal number on the ITV Hub.

"Bradley is particularly enthusiastic about a sequel because he's very much taken ownership of the role of Pop Larkin."

The final episode of the first series airs on ITV next Sunday night, with a one-off festive special following this Christmas.
