Steffan Rhodri confirms that he will appear as Dave Coaches in the much-anticipated finale of Gavin & Stacey.

Steffan Rhodri has confirmed that he will be back as Dave Coaches for the final ever episode of Gavin & Stacey.

The much-loved comedy is returning for one feature-length final episode on Christmas Day, with all of the regular cast returning for the swansong.

Dave Coaches appeared throughout much of the main series' run and was last seen in the finale of series three, when he ditched fiancée Nessa (Ruth Jones) at the altar, and was absent for the most recent special in 2019.

The character is the only other person to know what really happened between Uncle Bryn (Rob Brydon) and Jason (Robert Wilfort) on the infamous fishing trip, suggesting that it could finally be revealed in the episode.

Rhodri told Metro: "My character Dave is a bit of an outsider. But they planned it so that with the last scene we did, which is the ending, we were all together and it was very touching."

"I can't tell you anything about the Christmas special other than I'm in it," he added. "I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I didn't do the one five years ago so it's 17 years since I've done it."

Gavin & Stacey concludes on Christmas Dat at 9pm on BBC One.
