Channel 4 gives the go-ahead to a new reality show called Virgin Island, which will aim to help 12 virgins experience sex for the first time.

Channel 4 has reportedly given the go-ahead to controversial new reality show Virgin Island.

The six-part series will follow 12 virgins who experience intimacy anxiety as they are sent to a luxury resort in order to receive sex coaching from experts Celeste Hirschman and Danielle Harel.

The pair run the San Francisco-based Somatic Institute, which offers "orgasmic coaching" and encourages what they term "cockfidence" in men.

On the show, the participants will lose their virginity to "sexological bodyworkers" Aisha, Thomas and Joy, while their intimacy issues will be tackled by "surrogate partners" Kat and Andre.

Rob Davis of production company Double Act told The Sun: "Virgin Island might seem like the most sensationalist reality TV show yet.

"But instead it's a heart-warming, life-changing and refreshingly authentic format."

Further details of the format, including a potential airdate and host, have yet to be revealed.
